GPrep, Chesterton to compete in first Spokane Catholic high school sporting event, lacrosse

For the first time ever, the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups will go head-to-head against another Spokane Catholic school in a sporting game, the Knights from Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame.

The Knights and Bullpups boys lacrosse teams will compete at 10 a.m. on April 22 at Gonzaga Prep in Spokane. There will be a second game at 5 p.m. on May 1 at St. Paschal in Spokane.

When Marycliff closed in 1979, Gonzaga Prep became the only Catholic high school in the Spokane metro area. Over 40 years later, in 2020, Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame opened in Hilyard, becoming the second Catholic school in the area open today.

Admission is free; come support Catholic education and athletics in Spokane.
