The Board of Directors of the Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame announced in a letter Monday their “new partnership” with St. Paschal Parish and School Campus in Spokane Valley. The classical Catholic high school is slated to move to the Spokane Valley campus for the 2025-2026 school year.

The letter discussed the school's location challenges from the start. Chesterton planned to open at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes campus but outgrew the facilities there before the first day of class due to a larger enrollment than expected. The school still opened in 2020 but at the old St. Patrick school in Hillyard. The following academic year will be Chesterton’s last at St. Patrick's. The announcement expressed profound gratitude to the St. Patrick’s community for being superb hosts and their willingness to help get the school off the ground.

St. Paschal Catholic School operated from 1940 to 2008 and has seen various tenants since its closure. Most notably, the West Valley School District has been renting and has done a fantastic job updating and maintaining the facilities. The letter stated the adequacy of St. Paschal’s school building and also mentioned hopes to start a capital campaign for further expansion and facility upgrades.

St. Paschal sits on the corner of E Marietta Ave. and N Park Rd. in Spokane Valley and is a sister parish of St. John Vianney in the Dishman area. Both parishes are served by the same priest. St. Paschal’s has a church, a renovated school, ample parking and a large grass lot in the back.
